"Glue Guns Optional!", MUMENTOUS Mixed Media and Self-Portraits

Nov. 23, 2 – 4 p.m., $25 per person*

Homecoming mums are about more than football and school pride, they are mediums for celebrating identity and self-expression with their array of assorted charms and personalized ribbons that proudly proclaim the wearers’ affiliations, activities and affections.

Inspired by the MUMENTOUS exhibition, this workshop offers an opportunity to deconstruct and reinterpret the meaning & materials of this Texas-born tradition and pop culture phenomenon. Participants are invited to create a self-expressive portrait utilizing a variety of materials including paint, photos, fabric, found objects and more to tell the story of their personal histories & reflect the many facets of their personalities. 

No prior experience is needed.  All materials provided, but participants are encouraged to bring their own photos, fabric and other objects of meaning and/or aesthetic interest to incorporate in their artwork.
